True Crime Author Zach Fortier
If you are looking for a editor for your next book, short story or manuscript take a look at Wendy Reis. I have had my books edited by two other editors and I was never happy with the process. They edited the book and sent it back, once through, pay me now and hope you are satisfied. I was not. I wanted to know why the changes were made, what are the rules that govern this change in the English language? I was told that kind of edit required an additional and very expensive fee. Wendy was different; her process of editing REQUIRES several passes through the book by both author and editor, each providing feedback to the other as they sharpen the document. I was very happy with the results and felt much more included in the process instead of the ONE SIZE FITS ALL approach I had in the past. Editing is hard work and Wendy made me feel like she actually enjoyed the challenge. If you are looking for an editor that will include you in the process and not force you to take out a second mortgage on your home to pay their fee, I would highly recommend Wendy Reis Editing. If you have any questions about this post feel free to E mail me at curbchek@ymail.com Sincerely Zach Fortier.

I have seen the benefit of another pair of educated and literate eyes going over a manuscript and correcting obvious spelling and grammatical errors, pointing out inconsistencies and awkward wording. Correcting these do not change your vision just perfect it. But you do need to retain the right to decline any suggestions. That is how my editor (Wendy Reis) and I worked together. It has made my book better without losing anything I wanted. When we edit our own work we tend to see what we think we wrote, not what is really there. And such errors can create the impression that we do not write well - which can be detrimental if not fatal. Yvonne Hertzberger

“I came to Wendy on a recommendation from a friend and couldn’t be more pleased with her service. She’s efficient, professional, and very thorough, meticulously following through on her work. My novel, NEAR SIGHTED, is a testament to her keen eye and attention to detail, and I have enjoyed working with her. I look forward to collaborating with her again in the future and would recommend her to anyone.” ~ Richard

Wendy is efficient and has a keen eye to detail! Even when I thought my manuscript was perfect, she found things in it. Not only will she point out obvious grammar issues, but she goes beyond that by considering the era of the story or the context. She’s readily accessible afterwards if you have any questions about your project or things she’s noted for revision. Not only does she make a note, sometimes she explains the reason for it in a comment, or if not, she more than willingly will if you ask about it. She has a way of tightening things without touching an author’s voice.

When I was writing Welcome Home I needed a good proofreader in a hurry. Wendy stepped up and did a fabulous job, professionally and in good time. I was able to launch my book when I wanted with confidence because I knew she had proofed the whole thing.

Wendy Reis is a delight to work with. She is quick, efficient, to the point; yet she is also respectful of a writer's need to be a little quirky. She doesn't miss a thing. So even after you have poured over your manuscript for months with a fine tooth-comb, she will nitpick in those deep and secret places you thought you had scoured. You can't do without her!
